The screening provides occasion to reflect on how the revolutionary force of Woolf's novel challenges stereotypes, in terms both of gender and of literary genre. It also invites discussion on how Woolf's innovative ideas and narrative techniques are adapted by Sally Potter.

"Portrait of Virginia Woolf" ("Ritratto di Virginia Woolf")
from "Settimo Giorno" (1974)
In view of the International Women's Day, Rai Teche Mediateca (Torino) proposes the screening of an episode of the weekly Italian cultural tv show Settimo Giorno (1974), written and presented by Enzo Siciliano. The episode was devoted to tracing a portrait of Virginia Woolf via excerpts from a British documentary and an analyisis of Woolf by the Italian writer Lalla Romano.
